THESE TRACE REMAINS
The ultimate witness to any occurrence, tragic or mundane, is the place in which it happened. Each event charges the place; those who did not observe an occurrence can still experience its effects on the place left behind. In some places the charge is tangible and identified with an object, but more often the spaces between objects imply and bear witness to everything that has happened there. Conflating memories of my rural past with the reality of my present, These Trace Remains engages in a re-mapping of a personal space, an image of a setting both imaginary and observed. Each piece is a small conflict, a reconstructing of physical and mental landscape to question our permanence.
